Made in the 1950’s, Found Abandoned Almost 70 Years Later.

A long history of 7 Generations, This Ford Fairlane 500 sticks to a rusty Upstate NY backyard.

There’s a timelessness to old Ford’s. Especially those manufactured in the 1950’s. I’ve always been into Cars. Ever since a young kid. We grew up in Wisconsin.

My family living close to Detroit and Midwest Auto Shows, I remember vaguely going to Auto Expos with my Dad. And specifically a giant mechanical T-Rex that breathed fire, and moved it’s arms and head.

I remember seeing the Shelby GT-500 for the first time and being stunned. Always dream shopping and looking through expensive car magazines, and some even covering “futuristic flying cars”.

Prototype cars are still fun to think about. Needless to say I grew up a little disappointed after realizing we’d probably never attain such things.

I had tons of Hot Wheels cars as a little boy. I made all kinds of sounds to simulate their Engines, and even gave them voices long before the Movie “Cars”. I loved monster trucks, Bigfoot especially. I even drove my Big wheel off the roof of my Parents Volkswagen Golf to simulate my own Bigfoot experience.

These are the footprints that were left on me as a little guy, riding on my dads shoulders and sayings lots of ” ooh, oohs” as the sound of Engines and the flashy paint got me real fired up.

Times change, But I still adore Cars,
Especially classics.

Now that we are located in Pittsburgh, I’ve ventured to the Frick Museum where they had steam powered cars on display in the Car & Carriage Museum.

Sure, I may not see flying, or hovering cars. But we came from Horse Drawn Carriages, to Steam powered Cars, to Electric Powered Super cars breaking over 1,360 HP.

This Fifth Gen Fairlane 500 had a V8;
Top Speed: Just over 100 mph

I couldn’t imagine a modern day car with a V8, and only pushing a little over 100 MPH. 0-60 in 12 seconds? This is theoretical as I don’t know the exact trim of this Fairlane 500 left for dead in Upstate NY.

However, I came to appreciate something. My youth, My Family, and the progress in evolution of Modern Machinery.

Ancient Relics.
Sentimental Favorites.

Do you have a Favorite Classic Car? Imagine all the memories associated with this Fairlane 500. I wonder if the Car had a single owner. You can see where the engine of the Fairlane 500 was dissected from the body, possibly planning to save the goods.

Maybe the funds ran dry, or other complications arose.
Somewhere deep inside the spirit of this car took pride in being noticed once again.

Farewell Fairlane, Enjoy the view.
