Finding A Familiar Approach

When I find myself out of reach with a certain subject or task I try to find a way to make it my own. Something every creative person tends to do. So we’re more at ease with ourselves and ultimately making it ours with whatever means we can.

This can be in the gear you use, the post process, or the medium in which you photograph.

What style do I often rely on to acquaint myself better with the subject? Even though I was feeling a little helpless, this approach helped me find a comfort zone for Pittsburgh photography.

The photo above shows how much the blacks are “clipping” by noticing the blue on the dark areas. Often I try to balance to my own preference how much blue there is in order to achieve deep blacks.

The red area is how bright the white areas are. In which you’re supposed to scale them back so you don’t see much of them to evenly balance your shadows and highlights.

But I like them crushed. So show me the blue.
