A Showcase of Light & Steel | Part IV

Getting Into the “Zone”

Downtown Pittsburgh Building Shapes Vertical Black and White Photo

So after I took about 15-20 photos I found myself in the groove.

I was getting a feeling for this lens. I was taking note of the contrast of the overcast day, and visualizing how they would look as a final edit. Either straightening them out in post, or allowing the curvature for final edits.

What I love about Pittsburgh photography is that I’m often just kind of wandering the city.

People don’t really mind you, and sometimes you’ll be approached by a hopeful resident to tell their story.
I like having people in the pictures, but not as the focus.

Everyone is doing their own thing, and I’m one of them.
Just getting lost in the moment.

Some of us are just coming back from our lunch break, others are riding their bikes for a few calories to burn before class.

While I may be exercising differently, I was feeling the burn!

I try to encompass as much area as possible when I have my camera downtown Pittsburgh. Mostly because its easy to navigate, and I find it a very interesting way to get some exercise in.

Today was my day to try new things, see new things, and bring home more than I hoped for. And by the time I got home, I was soaked from rain, my body was stiff…

But I had over 150 photos to analyze.

This isn’t black and white.
Just Pittsburgh.

New Lens, New Photos, Same Pittsburgh.

I ended up with over 20 photos I really liked. 150 down to 12 favorites. Pivot yourself to be challenged so your rewards are greater.
And don’t get down about the same ol view of your town. Getting a new lens helps!
