Lisa contacted me the beginning of April in a Panic. She was getting married on April 20th, 2018 and her Photographer she had been coordinating with was unable to take pictures of her wedding.
Lisa runs her own Cannabis infused edibles company, EDIYBLES. She specializes in crafting all kinds of Cannabis based treats. Shes a mother of Ben. A high energy teenager with Autism, several adopted Kitties, and her sister suffers from Crohn’s disease like me.
She has a strong passion for the healing benefits of Marijuana and caters to struggling individuals who may be suffering from various health related ailments.
She does classes, and just recently launched a private Edibles based Bus tours where you get hands on experience making your own Infused Edibles.
We became close when I was living in Monroeville 3 years ago. I called her up telling her how I am into everything shes about. We talked business plans, health complications and we were just totally open with each other from the start.
She asked ” I know this is short notice, But my Photographer isn’t available to shoot my wedding. I just need you to document the day with your eye and style”
…I’m not gonna lie. I panicked.
She needed me to fly out to Colorado, in which I have a fear of flying. I’m by no means a proclaimed wedding Photographer.
I called my friend and asked him if he’d wanna do it with me. He said it wouldn’t be worth it for the time off work.
I was going in Solo.
I contacted Lisa back and said “I’ll do it”.
We negotiated pay rate and travel terms.
And I set off in 2 weeks.
Nonstop flight to Denver, Colorado.
Adam’s Mother and Step-Dad picked me up from the Airport. I traveled to a unknown place, with complete strangers.
I had never even met Lisa or her Family.
She understood this, and was immensely grateful.
I just put my faith in the Lord, and the relationships that I’ve found to be wholesome, trustworthy and beneficial.
I mustered courage and relied on the opportunity.
Lisa was right, It was worth it.
The day was something out of a Fairy tale.
The Mountains were breathtaking. The Sun was peaking, yet the climate required Jackets and Gloves.
I was fortunate enough to see Colorado in a way most people haven’t. A VIP pass to a 4/20 Wedding in the Mountain ranges of Silverthorne Colorado.
During the Ceremony, specks of snow started falling. Weddings are extremely stressful as photographers. The sun was constantly changing due to outside conditions.
The wedding itself lasted about an hour and a half, so things moved fast! Luckily, I had rented 2 lenses to cover pretty much everything. My gear for the wedding consisted of:
- Panasonic GH4
- 12-35mm f/2.8
- 35-100mm f/2.8
- Tripod
- Flash
Talking about a lightweight kit. I swapped lenses once. The two lenses were extremely sharp. Capturing everything, even the background mountain ranges at an aperture of f/4. These two lenses were worth almost $1,800. The Camera itself was about $1,000.
Take the Bull by the Horns.
Sometimes you’re just thrown into the fire. And your only choice is to perform under pressure. There are no retakes in a wedding. You can’t ask them to put the ring on again. You gotta time things, and roll with the punches.
Sure you’ll miss shots. We didn’t plan things out. It was rather impromptu. She even sang to Adam, during which I just hit record and filmed it. I felt confident that these are the reasons Lisa chose me. You gotta be clutch.

What an amazing photo! You’re a wonderful photographer. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year.
They recently asked me for the Images so they could make Anniversary Prints. I love that they wanted to utilize the prints. I didn’t offer them any bogus packages. I backed up their images, saved the videos I took, and sent them a USB drive and included several video clips.
These two were Champs. They shared intimate moments, and knew my style was non invasive. Sure you can ask me for photos, But my intention is never to force people into a shot or compel them to smile or acquire some pre planned pose.
This was their day, it was about them. I said, I’m not here. Unless you need me.
Thank you for hiring me, including me as a friend and Professional in your lives. I’ve really been appreciative of Lisa and our ongoing friendship.
